Mueller personnel recently participated in the 3rd annual Superhero Heart Run held at Houston’s Cullen Park. Proceeds from the event provide support, education, research and create awareness for Congenital Heart Defect (CHD), the most common birth defect worldwide. Families in Texas directly benefit through the programs and services provided by Mended Little Hearts and Heart Heroes, Inc., the event organizers.
The run holds special meaning for Mueller staffers. Five year old Mason Brown, son of our Human Resource Manager Erinn Brown, was born with a form of CHD known as hypoplastic left heart, though you wouldn’t guess it trying to keep up with him. Mason is one tough little guy…in fact the group we ran with was named Team Tough Guy in his honor. Mueller and our benefits provider Memorial Financial Services joined Mason’s family and friends on his team. Though it has involved multiple surgeries young Mason is now thriving and is a terrific inspiration!
The accompanying photo shows Team Tough Guy participants wearing their bright superhero capes. Seated left to right are Macy Brown, Janice Mueller (our President), Erinn Brown (our HR Manager and Mason’s mother), Liam Sheridan, Lacy Deaton (our Manufacturing Operations Assistant) and her son Conner, Kathy Garza, and Gada Sheridan. Standing are Fred Mueller (our CEO), Team Tough Guy leader Mason Brown, Kevin Brown (Mason’s father), Harvey Garza, Tanya Leyh, and Judy Farley (Mason’s grandmother).
