Mueller Environmental Designs has broken ground on a major expansion of its manufacturing facilities in Brookshire, Texas, just west of Houston.
The $5 million first phase of construction will more than double the company's fabrication plant, adding 19,200 square feet of heavy manufacturing space along with an additional 9,000 square feet of offices. Upon completion after the first of the year, the company will consolidate personnel from its Houston office to the enlarged Brookshire campus. A second phase in 2016 will increase the production area by another 10,800 square feet to house heat treating and hydro testing operations.
In addition to a variety of heavy fabrication and welding equipment for constructing ASME certified pressure vessels, the expanded plant also incorporates a unique 400 ton capacity Enerpak hydraulic gantry crane system engineered specifically for Mueller's applications.
Also included are a research and development area as well as a demonstration facility for the company's patented KLS filterless gas separation technology.
"Beginning with the purchase of our manufacturing facility in 2011, the goal has been to bring as much of the production of our equipment as possible in-house, allowing us to better control cost, quality and delivery schedules", said company president Fred Mueller. "This expansion is the next step in that process, and will enable us to keep pace with the rapidly increasing demand for our current products as well as bring our next generation of innovative technology to the marketplace."
Mueller is a respected provider of innovative natural gas separation, air filtration, noise abatement and emission control equipment, offering a broad array of 32 products. The privately held company, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2016, is owned by Fred and Janice Mueller.
