How do you bake a 150,000 pound potato? Well we wrap them up and cook them from the inside out at 1200 degrees. Actually what you see here is an 8' x 50' slug catcher vessel being heat treated in our fabrication facility just outside of Houston. For large units like these it's more efficient to heat treat them in place, fully insulating the exterior as you see here, then igniting industrial propane heaters inside. And we're not exaggerating when we say 1200 degrees. Despite the thick insulated jacket, things get pretty heated in the immediate vicinity. In the winter our workers love it...in the summer, not so much. Houston was baking in a 102 degree summer day when this photo was taken, and inside our shop the Gatorade was flowing like Niagara Falls!
